Yıldız Demir Çelik and Kocaeli University signed a Cooperation Protocol that will advance "industry-university" cooperation. Yıldız Demir Çelik and Academic staff and students of Kocaeli University will collaborate on cooperative R&D projects, focusing on sustainability and green transformation. Internship opportunities for students, providing technical opportunities for graduate students to complete their theses and the preparation of scientific publications on future projects are among the other objectives of the project.
Yıldız Demir Çelik, the Turkish iron and steel industry's youngest and most dynamic participant, and Kocaeli University, one of the academy's most distinguished representatives, have begun an exemplary study in university-industry cooperation. The Cooperation Protocol between the two institutions was signed on 19 April 2022 by Yıldızlar Investment Holding Board Member Hakkı Yıldız and Kocaeli University Rector Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü
Yıldızlar Investment Holding Board Member Hakkı Yıldız stated at the signing event, "Kocaeli, one of our country's main industrial centers, conducts exemplary studies on university-industry cooperation. As Yıldız Demir Çelik, we have major collaborations with numerous academic institutions, particularly with Kocaeli University. It is important for our country to accomplish its goals to ensure that our young people, who are our future, receive a far better education, as well as to support our industry in developing new projects and products in collaboration with the academy world. We continue to invest in the future of our country and our youth with Kocaeli University as a global company that recognizes that technology, production, and industry are the way of the future. I believe that with the Collaboration Protocol, which will take our activities to the next level, exemplary projects will be developed through the collaboration of our company's R&D teams and our university's valuable academics and students."
Rector of Kocaeli University Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü, on the other hand, noted that the private sector plays a significant role in preparing young people for careers in business and continued as follows: "Our students will not only get experience in the business life through the protocol we signed with Yıldız Demir Çelik, but we will also be able to focus more on our research and development studies as a result of the university-industry collaboration." Within the scope of the protocol covering a five-year study, Yıldız Demir Çelik and Kocaeli University, will cooperate on project studies for scientific and technological research. In light of the studies, R&D projects and consulting services, as well as student internship opportunities, will be implemented.
